Cathy Chan-Halbrendt, President
Catherine is an emerging environmentalist. She is a professor of environmental economics and sustainable resource management at the University of Hawaii in Manoa, USA. Her research interests are in international agricultural development and valuation of non-market environmental assets. She has worked in over 10 developing countries mainly in Asia, Eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East promoting agricultural development and human capacity building. Her hobbies are running, watching movies and travel.
President – The President shall be the chief executive officer of the Organization and shall preside at all meetings of members of the Organization and of the Board of Directors. She shall have a general charge and supervision of the affairs of the Organization and shall perform such duties as may be designated or assigned from time to time by the Board of Directors.
Kevin Halbrendt, Treasurer
My educational background is a BA in Economics from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Along with this I have had taken many post graduate courses in psychology. With my strong interest in psychology I have worked 4 years with special needs children and teenagers. I spent 2 years working one-on-one with autistic children, 1 year teaching at an alternative high school and 1 year teaching dyslexic and or gifted children. Presently I am creating therapeutic art which expresses and depicts experiences and expectations of the world we live in. One hobby of mine is traveling. A few places I have been are China, The Netherlands, France, Italy, Germany and India.
Treasurer. The Treasurer shall be responsible for all funds and financial records of the Organization, subject to such regulations as may be imposed by the Board of Directors and in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Organization. In the absence of the President and Secretary, the Treasurer will officiate as Chairperson and appoint an interim Secretary.
Jacqueline Halbrendt, Secretary
Jacqueline has a BA in Environmental Studies, and is currently
pursuing a MS in Horticulture. Her research interests are in
developing sustainable, organic food production systems, especially in
areas where resources are limited. She has worked as a volunteer on
community development projects, promoting HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention, and assisting AIDS orphans in Mozambique and St. Vincent. Additionally, she has experience as a research assistant in East Timor and India.
Secretary. The Secretary shall be responsible for keeping minutes of all meetings of the Board of Directors and the Organization, issuing all notices of the Organization, and for maintaining all records except for financial records. In the absence of the Chairperson, the Secretary will officiate as Chairperson.
Bridget G. Morgan, Board Member
Bridget is an attorney in Honolulu, Hawaii, currently practicing in the areas of bad faith insurance litigation, general tort litigation and commercial bankruptcy. Bridget’s law practice interests and research interests also include constitutional law, environmental law and regulations, critical race theory and multidisciplinary approaches to the revision of anti-discrimination law. Bridget earned her Juris Doctor from the Boalt Hall School of Law at UC Berkeley, and her Bachelors degree in sociology from Seattle University. Prior to her current practice, Bridget worked as an Americorps volunteer for the Legal Aid Society of Hawaii as a Guardian Ad Litem, and represented the best interests of foster children.
